Two Weekends of Homeschool Conventions - March 17th and June 9th, 2012!

The March 17th convention will feature guest speaker Kevin Swanson of Generations with Vision. In addition to the Ladies Tea, there will also be a Dad's Tool Time! Dad's Tool Time will help equip Homeschool Dads with the tools they need to lead their homeschool.
The June 9th convention will feature a Used Curriculum Sale! Plus there will be workshops conducted by local speakers.
Both conventions will take place at the First Baptist Church of Patchogue, NY conveniently located right along the Sunrise Highway for easy access. For those who wish to use the LIRR, a shuttle will be available from the train station to the church!

Guidance is now available on Chapter 217 of the Laws of 2008, which was signed into law by the Governor on July 7, 2008, relating to students with disabilities who are in home instruction programs pursuant to section 100.10 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education (home-schooled students) and are now eligible to receive special education services from their public school districts. In order to receive services in the 2008-09 school year, a parent must submit a written request for such services to the board of education of the school district of location no later than August 6, 2008 of this year. On July 7, 2008, New York Governor David Paterson signed bill A11463, the bill which restores special services to disabled homeschool children. This was the final step in making this bill a law in the state of New York. Disabled homeschool children in New York are once again eligible to receive critically needed special services, on the same basis as other students in New York.
